The CDP Nepal Earthquake Recovery Fund will address recovery efforts that aren't fully known yet and might take years to address. Earthquakes are difficult to respond to because of challenges facing relief organizations--such as blocked roads, damaged airports and buildings tottering on collapse--that limit access and maneuverability.
The Red Cross is working to provide first aid, search and rescue, and support to first responders. The American Red Cross is committing an initial $300,000 to the response operation and working closely with the Nepal Red Cross and the global Red Cross network to coordinate additional support.
Doctors Without Borders provides medical care to people in nearly 70 countries worldwide, saving lives threatened by violence, neglect, or catastrophe. Doctors Without Borders continues to send medical and non-medical teams to assist victims of the Nepal Earthquake, which shook the Kathmandu Valley.
