A 6.2 magnitude earthquake hit Central Italy during the early morning of Wednesday, August 24, 2016. At least 240 people were killed, dozens more injured or trapped under the rubble, and thousands are temporarily homeless. Many buildings were reduced to dusty piles of masonry close to the epicenter of the quake.
Please give generously in support of the victims.
NIAF's Italian American Relief Fund is dedicated to providing relief for the victims affected by the earthquake. Italian American Relief is working to identify a specific project or projects for funding. We assure donors that all proceeds will go to the rebuilding efforts of a community badly damaged by this natural catastrophe.
Save the Children, in coordination with the Italian Civil Protection from Lazio Region, is providing a child-friendly space, a safe and protected environment where children and young people can receive support from trained staff and participate in various activities. This will allow them to play, socialize and learn as they recover from trauma.
All donations to this fund will support recovery and relief efforts in the region. Initially, the fund will help first responders meet survivors' immediate needs, such as food, fuel, clean water, hygiene, and shelter. Once initial relief work is complete, this fund will transition to support longer-term recovery run by vetted local organizations.
